Good morning all,
Not a whole lot going on in the world of metal today, so I am going to post a couple of links and the song of the day and see what happens as the day goes on.
The first two links are to an interview with Guns N Roses first manager Alan Niven. He was the guy in charge of putting Guns N Roses on the map and helping Geffen Records make them the biggest rock group at the time. It is a very interesting interview, especially if you have read Slash’s autobiography. The stuff that Niven talks about is similar to how Slash remembered the same situations, but the small differences from each perspective is cool and a good insight into a dysfunctional band. One of the more glaring accusations from Mr. Niven is that Axl actually suffered(s) from stage fright and that is why he was always late getting on stage. This is a 3 part interview and the first two parts are below, still waiting for the 3rd part but when it is up I will post a link.
MetalUnderground.com has an interesting series going on that they are calling Black Metal History Month (I am not sure if that is offensive or not?). This weeks installment looks at Symphonic Black Metal, and overall it is a pretty interesting read, even if you are not into black metal. You can read it here:http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=77322
Blabbermouth.net has a bunch of new reviews out on their site. Yo can see them here: http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/
Song of the day, this may be my favorite GnR song of all time! The opening riff is just AWESOME! http://youtu.be/XDhkVTKTBoY
Until Later, Peace,
